Nordic or cross-country skiing: its history and benefits
First and foremost, it's important to remember that cross-country skiing is one of the oldest winter sports, having originated in ancient times, more specifically in Scandinavia, hence its name.
Originally intended as a means of transport, particularly in times of war, Nordic skiing is now a sporting activity in its own right. Cross-country skiing competitions are regularly held around the world, while biathlon events are partly based on this sport.
More accessible than downhill skiing or snowboarding, Nordic skiing is nonetheless good for your health. For example, you can strengthen your cardio system, as well as all the muscles in your body (abs, arms, etc.).

A moment out of timeFriendly skating or classic sessionsClassic or skating Nordic skiing: what are the differences?
Many people don't know it, but cross-country skiing is actually divided into two disciplines: classic Nordic skiing and skating. So it's important to distinguish between the two to find out which is best for you.
First of all, it should be noted that classic cross-country skiing requires skiers to keep their skis parallel and to adopt the technique known as the "alternating step". In terms of equipment, the poles are shorter and the skis longer.
In skating, it's the "skater's step" that has pride of place. This means that the technique is more like that used in ice skating. It is therefore more demanding than classic cross-country skiing.
