The origin of this event lies in the desire to promote winter sports to as many people as possible by descending the slopes by the light of lanterns to show off their spectacular side. Over the decades, this popular custom has grown to become a regular fixture in ski resorts.

The Menuires esf also gives the little ones the chance to take part in this incredible spectacle. Every Wednesday, the Piou-Piou club in La Croisette organises a torchlit descent specially designed for them.
They'll have the chance to immerse themselves in the magic of this emblematic event as they hurtle down the snow-covered paths after dark.
