Each new season in the 3 Vallées, the ski instructors at esf Les Menuires are delighted to accompany holidaymakers of all ages on the slopes and beyond, for moments of pure pleasure.
Experts in the sport and connoisseurs of the area, they don their famous red jumpers all winter long. However, once the season is over, they put it away carefully, before devoting themselves to new adventures.

So what do the ski instructors do in summer? Here's a closer look at the many and varied jobs they do!
esf instructors: a passion for sport all year round
Whether it's downhill skiing, freestyle skiing, ski touring or snowboarding, snow sports activities appeal for their dynamism, their sense of freedom and the adrenalin you feel at every moment.
esf instructors are passionate about the sport, enjoying the opportunity to move and excel as much as they do passing on their expertise to as many people as possible. So it's only natural that many of them go on to become sports instructors in the summer.
Mountain biking or windsurfing instructors, tennis or PE teachers, sports educators or lifeguards... All year round, they share their love of sport, whether with other enthusiasts or with holidaymakers looking for a thrill, with one aim: to help them progress in a safe and friendly environment!

Being a ski instructor also means enjoying working in the great outdoors. In Les Menuires, teachers can practise their profession in the unique setting of the 3 Vallées ski area.
It's this contact with the mountains, and with nature in general, that many of them enjoy, even in summer. So it's not unusual for our ski instructors to work as high mountain guides or mountain leaders during the summer months.
As experts in the local area, they use their knowledge to help people discover their beloved environment, as well as taking on more unusual and dangerous jobs, such as working on difficult mountain access routes.

For many instructors, the office is not the environment in which they thrive, summer or winter. More than the mountains, many of them work outdoors, in a variety of environments: there are lifeguards at sea, beach supervisors, green space maintenance workers, farmers, carpenters and bricklayers, for example.

Les Menuires ski instructors also have jobs away from the slopes
Nevertheless, some of the ski instructors at esf Les Menuires like the versatility that seasonal work guarantees. If they can make a living from their passion for skiing for half the year, they appreciate being able to turn to other horizons, sometimes completely different, during the other half.
Some of our teachers are restaurateurs, boilermakers, salespeople, masseurs, chiropractors, electricians, finance professionals and even voice coaches or history-geography teachers when they're not on the slopes.
